Aquarium

On Saturday I went to the aquarium in Kasai Rinkai Park, two stations from where I live. This aquarium is apparently one of the largest in Japan. The park that it is in is beautiful and right near the ocean. If it wasn’t so hot, I would have walked around a lot more.

The aquarium is so beautiful when you first walk in. You have to go down into this glass dome building. Outside the main entrance is an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean.

They have so many exhibits and many young families come to educate their children. I was just trying to relax and escape the heat, so I wasn’t really feeling like educating myself on marine life so I didn’t read many things. I only stayed about an hour, but it was still very calming and fun.

My favorite exhibit was the penguin one. There are so many penguins–I was very surprised. There were also baby ones, but they were kept in a slightly different area than the adults. It was fun watching them swim around in the cool water. It is a bummer that their habitat is outside in the blazing sun, but I guess they don’t mind…

After the aquarium I went back to Shibuya again. I regret going because it was just too hot again and all of the department stores (except Shibuya Hikarie that I’ve been too) are super loud. Shibuya is for young people so they always yell loudly to get people’s attentions about time sales, welcome people into their stores, etc. I thankfully didn’t buy anything because I recently bought a nice dress Friday after work from my favorite brand. They have a store in Akita so hopefully I can get some more stuff when I go since I really haven’t been buying so many clothes this trip. I probably shouldn’t buy too many summer-exclusive clothing though because I will be coming back in the fall/winter and it isn’t exactly super hot where I live…

I just realized how aesthetically pleasing this post is because of all the blue photos. Thanks for reading!
